Buenos Aires, August 13, 2026.
Fundación Faro held the meeting “National Security: A New Era of Strategic Competitiveness” at its headquarters, where it presented its new team of studies on Geopolitics and National Security. The newly formed working group will be tasked with developing proposals and contributing to the debate on an agenda of growing importance for Argentina.
The event, which was attended by 250 attendees, focused on the transformations taking place in the international arena: after decades in which globalization prevailed over geopolitics, the world is facing a new stage marked by the increase in conflicts between states, hybrid threats, competition for strategic resources, and the growth of transnational organized crime.
In the face of this scenario, special emphasis was placed on the need to strengthen national security as a fundamental tool for protecting the lives, freedom, and property of the Argentine people, as well as the sovereignty, territorial integrity, and prosperity of the country. At the same time, it was noted that Argentina possesses exceptional conditions to consolidate itself as a relevant actor in the international system, fully integrate into the Fourth Industrial Revolution, and play a strategic role within Western supply chains.
The day was inaugurated by the executive director of Fundación Faro, Agustín Laje, and featured the presentations by Federico Domínguez, Guillermo Lafferriere, Nicolás Promanzio and Ramiro Castiñeira, all of whom are members of the working team.
With the formation of this new group, Fundación Faro incorporates a working area dedicated to the study of geopolitics, as well as national security, and the development of proposals aimed at considering Argentina’s strategic positioning in the face of the challenges of the new global scenario.
The day was broadcast live on the @fundfaro YouTube channel.
