International Council

The International Council brings a global perspective that enriches and complements the Foundation’s objectives, ensuring that the ideas promoted have international reach and vision. Composed of liberal experts and leaders from different countries, the Council strengthens the Foundation’s mission by connecting our goals with a network of knowledge and experiences that drive the development of freedom-based ideas around the world.

President

Alberto Benegas Lynch

Alberto Benegas Lynch (h) holds a PhD in Economics from the UCA and a PhD in Management Sciences from the UADE. He is a member of three national academies: the Academy of Economic Sciences, the Academy of Moral and Political Sciences, and the Academy of Sciences, where he chairs the Section of Economic Sciences.

He has been an economic advisor to various institutions, such as the Buenos Aires Stock Exchange and the Argentine Chamber of Commerce. He was a full professor at the UBA in multiple disciplines and directed the Department of Doctorate in Economics at the UNLP. For 23 years, he was Rector of ESEADE, where he is now an Emeritus Professor, and currently teaches Economic Analysis at UCEMA.

 

Benegas Lynch is linked to Argentine liberal think tanks and is a member of the National Association of Scholars in Princeton and the Institut Turgot in Brussels. He is also part of the Advisory Council of academic journals in New York and Madrid. He has received several honorary doctorates from both national and foreign universities.

Axel Kaiser

Lawyer and Doctor of Philosophy from the University of Heidelberg. He is president of the Foundation for Progress (Chile) and Senior Research Fellow at the Adam Smith Center (FIU) and the Archbridge Institute (Washington). Author of multiple bestsellers and international speaker, he regularly collaborates with media such as The Wall Street Journal, Forbes and The Washington Post.

Philipp Bagus

German economist from the Austrian School and doctor from the UNED. He is a full professor at the Rey Juan Carlos University in Madrid and a member of the Mises Institute. He is distinguished for his research in monetary theory and is the author of the acclaimed book The Tragedy of the Euro.

Carlos Sabino

An Argentine sociologist and historian based in Guatemala, with a doctorate in Social Sciences. He is an emeritus professor at the Francisco Marroquín University and has written extensively on the economic history of Venezuela. His work focuses on the analysis of the political and economic processes of Latin America.

Enrique Ghersi

Lawyer and former member of the Peruvian parliament, graduated from the University of Lima and a recognized academic in the field of Economic Analysis of Law. He was a co-author of the influential book "El otro sendero" (The Other Path) together with Hernando de Soto. He serves as a university professor and is an active advocate of institutional reforms in the region.

Fernanda Ritter

Brazilian economist and opinion leader, trained in administration and business management. She has distinguished herself as president of the Instituto de Estudos Empresariais (IEE) and in the organization of the Fórum da Liberdade in Porto Alegre. Her work focuses on promoting entrepreneurial values and market freedom.

Manuel Llamas

Spanish journalist and economist, graduated in Economic Sciences from the University of Valladolid. He has held management positions at the Juan de Mariana Institute and is chief editor of economics at the Libertad Digital group. He is a recurring analyst in media on public policies and the European economic situation.

Victor Pavón

Paraguayan lawyer and economist, with a doctorate in Law and Social Sciences. He is the dean of the UNIDA University, and a member of the Foundation Libertad de Paraguay and a prolific columnist in national media.

Fernando Doti

Uruguayan lawyer. Representative of the Plataforma para la Libertad de Uruguay. Member of the Board of the Foundation for Freedom, Faro.

Luis Pazos

Mexican economist and lawyer, with postgraduate studies at UNAM and the Panamerican University. He was director of Banobras and has published more than 40 books on economic dissemination with a classical liberal approach. He is considered one of Mexico's most influential communicators on economic freedom issues.

Jesus Huerta de Soto

Professor of Political Economy (URJC) and Academician of the Royal Academy of Moral and Political Sciences. Holds an MBA from Stanford and two Doctorates in Law and Economic Sciences (UCM). Director of the Master's Degree in Economics at the Austrian School and International King Juan Carlos Prize for Economics, his scientific work has been translated into 22 languages.
